Discrepancy in Cash Balancing

Since I started working at tall counter taking in deposits, this is the first time I'm short in my balance!!! I was $50 short!! Woe is me! Now I realise why they always "warn" me to ensure that everything balances. Regardless of the amount involved, once there's any discrepancy, the procedure is that everyone, & it's literally EVERYONE, has to stay back to re-count all their cash :( It was such a hassle. And the officer had to file a report, plus a lot of other nonsense. I think all of them must really be cursing & swearing at me in their hearts boy! By the time I left at 6.50pm, they still had to stay back for a briefing. Poor things! Haiz.. Can't stand my imperfections! Can't stand my making mistakes! It's never meant to be this way :(
