Hari Raya Haji

Many of my colleagues are Muslims. At least 8 of them. So I asked some of them about their practice for this day.
Hari Raya Haji is also called "The Festival of Pilgrimage". Seems it's celebrated by the Muslims on the 10th day of the last month of the Muslim calendar. This is an occasion celebrated marking the conclusion of the annual Haj - the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, when the pilgrims are given the title of Haji for men and Hajjah for women.
It's also called "The Festival of Sacrifice". Thanksgiving prayers are offered in the mosques. An animal (usually a sheep, goat or ox) is sacrificed whose meat is distributed among the relatives & the poor. In Singapore, if they wish to sacrifice a sheep, they usually have to order in advance. Can cost about $200 per sheep (from Australia).
